Backup Rates
Table of contents
- Backup Rates are fixed prices displayed at checkout as an alternative when carriers cannot generate a quote due to technical errors or lack of coverage. They work for both domestic and international shipments.
- ✅ Compatible with: Shopify, Wix, WooCommerce, Ecwid, Yampi, BigCommerce
- ❌ Not compatible (for now): Tiendanube, Jumpseller
The main benefits of backup rates are:
- Prevent loss of sales: Ensures your customers always have a shipping option available.
- Flexibility: Allows setting rates based on weight ranges and shipping type (domestic or international).
- Improves customer experience: Ensures continuity in the purchasing process, even in case of carrier disruptions.
Steps to add a backup rate
- Go to the Ecommerce Pro > Store settings
- Ensure that your Live Checkout Rates is enabled and you have selected at least one carrier service.
- Enable the Backup Rates option and set your rates:
- Specify whether your rate is for domestic or international shipments
- Add the name that will appear in the customer's checkout
- Assign an estimated delivery time (days)
- Select the weight unit and set rates by weight range
- Save changes
Once configured, backup rates will be ready to activate automatically in contingency cases.
Important considerations
- They only activate if no selected carrier can provide a quote.
- If checkout is disabled, backup rates are also disabled.
