Additional charges for full-load service

During the full truckload (FTL) shipping process, additional charges may be incurred when situations occur outside of standard service. Knowing about them will help you plan better, avoid mishaps and prevent unexpected costs.

Additional charges

Additional charges are extra costs that apply when there are changes or interruptions to the normal flow of the shipment. These may arise during pickup, transit or delivery, and are related to delays, cancellations or special logistical needs.

Types of additional charges

Additional chargeDescription
StaysApplies when the unit remains in charging or discharging for more than 3 hours.
False freightA charge is made if the truck arrives at the loading point, but no shipment is made.
StorageCost of temporarily storing cargo prior to further movement.
DelaysOperational delays caused by failure to meet agreed-upon deadlines.
CancellationIf you cancel after the shipment is approved, 50% of the freight value is charged.

ℹ️ Stays begin to be charged from the fourth hour of stay in loading or unloading.

Important recommendations

  • Prepare the loading or unloading site in advance. Make sure the area is ready and organized at the agreed time.
  • Inform in advance if there are special conditions as:
    • Safety requirements (use of helmets, vests, boots, etc.)
    • Restricted access to industrial park
    • Limited hours
    • Maneuvers with forklifts, cranes or additional personnel
  • If you need to cancel or rescheduleIf you do so in advance and contact your FTL advisor directly to avoid penalties.

How do I know if I will be charged any additional fees?

Your commercial advisor or customer service team can help you anticipate if any of these charges apply based on your operation. You can also check in your rate confirmation.

What happens if I don't have the area ready at the time of loading?

If the operator has to wait longer than the established time or is unable to load, demurrage, false freight or even cancellation charges may apply if the operation is not completed.
