Create shipment / International shipments

Customs, taxes and duties

When you send a package to another country, you don't just pay for transportation: the customs office of the country of destination may charge taxes, duties and other import tariffs.

ℹ️ Customs: It is the authority that checks shipments as they cross borders. If a shipment does not comply with requirements or charges are not paid, the package may to be delayed, withheld or returned.

Knowing and correctly configuring these charges helps you:

  • Avoid surprise charges at the time of delivery.
  • Reduce delays and missed deliveries.
  • Show clear final prices to your customers.
  • Avoid refunds or customs retentions.

What are taxes and duties?

The customs duties and taxes are charges applied by customs authorities when a product enters a country.

These charges are calculated based on:

  • Type of product (category or classification)
  • Declared value
  • Country of destination regulations
  • Route and carrier selected

In order for the shipment to be delivered, these charges must be paid. Depending on the option you select on Envia.com, charges may be payable:

  • In advance (prepaid)
  • At the time of delivery
  • After delivery (invoiced to the sender)
