Important recommendations for your international shipments
Making an international shipment is not only about generating the waybill and delivering the package. There are certain key points that, if you take care of them, will help you avoid delays, additional costs or even returns of your shipment.
These recommendations are your checklist of best practices before delivering the package to the parcel.
Verify the declared value
The declared value is the actual price your customer paid for the product.
- It must match exactly on all documents: waybill, commercial invoice and any other voucher.
- If it does not match, customs may withhold or return the package.
Review how to correctly fill out the Product Declaration.
⚠️ Never declare a lower value to pay less tax. Customs may detect this and apply penalties or refunds.
Confirm if you need a customs broker
All shipments include a customs agent by default.
However, if the declared value exceeds 300 USDsome parcels such as UPS, DHL or FedEx you may be asked to hire your own agent.
ℹ️ Customs broker: is the specialist who manages the import process with customs. If your shipment exceeds the threshold, check the requirements with the courier before shipping.
Check if your product requires special permissions
Some items cannot freely enter certain countries. For example:
- Cosmetics.
- Electronics.
- Food and supplements.
If you do not have the necessary permits, the package will be held at customs and will not reach its destination.
💡 Tip: before shipping, check the list of restricted or prohibited items in the destination country.
Include complete contact information
Many customs require the recipient's telephone number and e-mail address to authorize delivery.
- Make sure they are correct and up to date.
- This data is used if there are doubts about the package or pending charges.
Keep evidence of your shipment
Upload photos of each package before delivering it to the courier. This will help you in case of incidents.
- Serves as a backup if your package is damaged or lost.
- It can be uploaded directly to the guide confirmation within Envia.com.

Quick tips to avoid problems
- Always declare the real value of the product.
- If you sell sensitive items (such as food or cosmetics), check permissions before shipping.
- Keep digital copies of the commercial invoice and the guide.
- Prefer DDP to give the best experience to your customer.
