Split order into multiple packages

When you receive an order with several products, usually everything is shipped together in one box. But there are situations when you need to ship it in separate parts.

The function Split Order allows you to distribute the products of an order in two or more boxes, each with its own shipping. The original order does not disappear or change in your store. It simply now has multiple boxes that you can ship independently or with the same package.

Common use cases

SituationWhy you need to split it
One of the items is too large or too heavyYou need a package that is different from the rest
The products are stored in two different warehousesEach part leaves from a different location
The entire order exceeds the maximum weight or size allowed. You must distribute it in several shipments
Only part of the order is ready to shipYou can send what you already have without waiting for the rest

Before splitting the order, make sure to:

  • Verify that the order contains more than one item to split it.
  • Have your origin address and default packages configured. If you have not yet configured these settings, see how to configure them.
  • Keep your products updated with their corresponding dimensions. If you haven’t configured this yet, learn how to do it.
  • Make sure the order is in status pending (even without a generated waybill). You cannot split an order that already has a shipment in progress.

Steps to split order

1. Log in to Envia.com

2. Go to Ecommerce Pro > Orders

You will see the list of all your orders. Click on the order number you want to split to open it.

4. Within the order, scroll down to the section Shipping type. Click on the three dots ( ⋮ ) and select. Split Order.

5. The division board opens. The screen is organized into three areas:

AreaWhat it contains
Products (left, above)All items in the order to be allocated. Each product shows how many units it has available and a control + to define how many to move.
Assigned products (left, bottom)Products that have already been assigned to a box. Here you can check that there are no unassigned products.
New package (right)Destination zone. Click on the blue button + to create the first package and start assigning products.

5. Create the packages you need. You have two ways to do it:

  • Click + New package to add one box at a time.
  • Use the controller Packages at the top of the screen: adjust the number with the buttons and +, or type the quantity directly. By reducing the number, the products in that package automatically return to unallocated.

6. Configure the dimensions of each package if necessary. Within each box you can select a package from your saved catalog or enter custom dimensions. You can also change the unit of measure between centimeters and inches from the same form.

7. Drag the products from the left column to the corresponding package. If a product has several units, adjust the quantity with the controls and + before dragging it, to move only the units you need in that box.

If you prefer not to do it manually, use the button Distribute equitably so that the system automatically distributes the products among the created packages.

8. If you need to delete a package, click on the three dots ( ⋮ ) in that box and select the option to delete it. The products assigned to it return to the pending column.

9. When you are satisfied with the layout, click on Confirm.

If you need to start from scratch, use the Restart to delete the current distribution without losing the original order.

10. When you return to the list of orders, you will see that the order now displays a label Packages with the number of boxes into which it was divided (for example, Packages 2). From there you can quote the shipping cost for each box.

Result after confirmation

When you confirm the split, the order remains the same. No new orders are created and nothing is changed in your store. What changes is that the order now contains multiple boxes, each with its own products and in a different status. Pending guidance until you purchase your shipment.

You can quote in two ways:

OptionWhen to use it
QuoteQuote all boxes together with the same package
Quote per packageQuote each box separately, useful if you need different packages for each one.

Price: The total value of the order is distributed among the boxes according to the products contained in each one. You do not have to calculate it yourself.

Insurance: If you have shipping insurance activated in your account or store, all boxes automatically inherit it. If you do not have insurance active, the boxes will not have it either.

Important considerations

You cannot undo a division. Once you confirm, the distribution is saved. If you made a mistake, you will have to cancel the generated boxes and reconfigure the order manually.

Weight may affect the shipping price. When splitting, the system recalculates the weight of each box taking into account the dimensions of the products. This may change the shipping cost with respect to the original order.

Your store is not affected. The split occurs only within Envia.com. The order on your platform (Shopify, WooCommerce, etc.) remains the same.

FAQ

How many packages can I create? You can create up to one package for each product in the order. For example, if the order has 7 products, you can create up to 7 packages.

Can I keep only one package after splitting? Yes, if you reduce the number of packages to 1 using the top controller, the products return to unassigned and you can have everything back in one box before confirming.

Does it work from the cell phone? Yes, although the experience is different. Instead of dragging products, each package displays controls and + to assign units and an arrow button to move them.

What happens if I make a mistake when assigning a product? You can move it to another box before confirming. You can also use Restart to start from scratch. The changes are only saved when you click on Confirm.

Can I use different packages for each box? Yes, when quoting, choose the option Quote per package to select a different package for each box according to your needs.

Are my reports or sales history affected? No. The split does not modify the original order in your store or in your reports. It only rearranges the products in boxes within Envia.com.
