Packing methods

To help your shipments arrive in good condition, follow these general guidelines for the two most popular packing methods, plus recommendations for irregular or unusual shapes.

This method is ideal for shipping non-fragile products.

  • Use a strong outer box: Place your soft products inside a strong outer box.
  • Fill empty space: Use filler such as newspaper, polystyrene, or bubble wrap to keep items from moving inside the box during transport.
  • Protect against moisture: For items that can be affected by dirt, water, or moisture, place them in a plastic bag before packing.
  • Seal the package: Use the H-tape method to seal your package.

This method is ideal for more fragile products.

  • Wrap individually: Wrap each product with at least 5 cm (2 in) of bubble wrap or foam. Make sure it fits easily inside a corrugated cardboard box.
  • Prevent movement: Use crumpled newspaper, polystyrene, or other filler so the product does not move inside the box.
  • Close the inner box: Close and seal the inner box using the H-tape method. This helps keep the box from opening accidentally.

  • Use a second box: The outer box should be at least 15 cm (6 in) larger in every dimension than the inner box.
  • Cushioning: Use filler to secure the inner box inside the outer box.
  • Pack individually: Wrap fragile products separately with a minimum thickness of 8 cm (3 in).
  • Use enough filler: Use 8 cm (3 in) of bubble wrap or other material to fill the space between the boxes.
  • Seal: Apply the H-tape method to seal the package.
