Label print format

Each carrier lets you choose the format in which your shipping label is generated. Configuring it correctly avoids printing problems: cut labels, misalignment, or unreadable barcodes.

  1. In the left sidebar, go to Create shipment > Print format and Carriers
  2. Find the carrier whose format you want to change.
  3. Click the Print Type dropdown.
  4. Select the format that matches your printer.

The change is saved automatically and applies to all your future shipments with that carrier.

Format names follow this structure: PAPERTYPEMEASUREMENT (for example: PDF STOCK_4X6). Understanding each part helps you choose correctly:

File type

Type Description Use it when
PDF Standard PDF document It is the most compatible format. It works on any printer.
PNG Image in PNG format When you need the label as an image. Available on specific carriers and countries.
ZPL / ZPLII Native language of Zebra printers You have a Zebra thermal printer and want the highest print quality.

Paper type

Term Means
STOCK Self-adhesive label on a roll (thermal printers)
PAPER Loose sheet or half letter (conventional inkjet or laser printers)

Measurement

Indicates the label size in inches*(width × height).* The most common sizes are 4×6, 4×8, and 7×4.75, although some carriers have specific sizes such as 2.9×5, 3.9×7, or 8.5×11.

  • If you have a thermal printer (Zebra, Dymo, Bixolon, etc.), choose a STOCK or ZPL/ZPLII format.
  • If you print on conventional paper (inkjet or laser), choose a PAPER format.
  • Configure the format before you generate your first labels so you do not have to reprint them.
  • If the label is not readable by the carrier scanner, try another format available for that carrier.
