Issue the DC-e on shipments from Brazil

The DC-e (Declaração de Conteúdo Eletrônica) is the digital document Brazil requires when the shipment does not include a Nota Fiscal Eletrônica (NF-e). It declares the package contents to the tax authority. Without it, a shipment from Brazil can be held. When you generate a label with origin in Brazil, Envia authorizes the DC-e and, when it is ready, lets you download the DACE to attach to the package.

The DACE (Declaração Auxiliar de Conteúdo Eletrônica) is the printout with a QR code that accompanies the DC-e. It goes on the visible outside of the package.

The DC-e is for senders who are not ICMS taxpayers. It fits, for example, if you are an individual (gifts or occasional sales), an MEI or exempt microenterprise, or you sell on a marketplace or social media and do not issue NF-e.

It applies with origin in Brazil, both on domestic (BR → BR) shipments and abroad.

Issue the DC-e when you generate the label

  1. Sign in to your Envia.com account.

  2. Open Create shipment.

  3. Complete Origin address in Brazil. The destination can be Brazil or another country.

  4. Complete the package (Envelope or Box) and click Quote. Choose a carrier and click Generate.

  5. For the products, fill in the description, quantity, and unit value. If the origin is Brazil and the destination is another country, also complete HS code and NCM.

    Field What it is
HS code Customs classification for the destination. Envia suggests it from the description. Review it.
NCM Brazil’s tax classification (Mercosur). Envia always suggests it against Brazil, even if the destination is another country.

On a BR → BR shipment, the NCM and the product code are the same value: Envia treats them together.

  6. Click Generate label. If the shipment has no NF-e XML, Envia authorizes the DC-e when it creates the label.

After you generate, print the DACE and attach it to the outside of the package before pickup or drop-off.

  1. Open My Shipments.
  2. In the shipment row, open the actions menu ().
  3. Download the extra DACE file (if there are several extra files, you will see one per document). Open it, print it, and attach it to the package.

If you do not see the DACE when you generate, check that same row later. The shipment can be created even if the file is not attached yet.

If the order origin is Brazil, a DC-e notice appears when you generate several orders. Complete the product description; Envia classifies the NCM against Brazil and authorizes the DC-e when you generate. The order flow is in Generate a label from Ecommerce Pro.

Can I use DC-e from Brazil to another country? Yes. With origin in Brazil, Envia also authorizes the DC-e for shipments abroad. In that case declare the destination HS code and Brazil’s NCM.

Does the DC-e replace the Nota Fiscal? No. It only applies if you are not required to issue NF-e. If you already issue a tax invoice, continue with NF-e.

Can I issue the DC-e outside Envia? Yes. Envia authorizes it inside Create shipment so you do not have to leave for another system.
